
We were delighted to have been requested to support Church Members of the Mururung Seventh Day Adventist Church, a branch of Gendar Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church in Wewak, East Sepik Province by delivering entrepreneurship skills training over the weekend. Objective of the training was to empower members of the church with entrepreneurship skills and knowledge so they are proactive and productive in any small entrepreneurship activities they are engaged in so at the end of the day, they can contribute effectively with tithes and offerings to move the greatest commission of all.. "the Gospel". Participants, mostly mothers and youths from the Church and others from the local communities who heard of the training have turned up early as 8:30am. Training, basically theory started at 9:45am and finished at 1:00pm covering a different sessions under Business Development Skills, Basic Financial Literacy and Group Business Management that trainer sees vital for their empowerment. 1. Money & its functions, 2. Money & its owner relationship, 3. Skills & attitudes of an entrepreneur, 4. Costing of a product/services, 5. Book keeping, 6. Budget, 7. Savings Practical part of the training will be hosted on a later date and after satisfactory assessment, Trainer will issue Certificates. Out of the total of 36 participants attended, 72% were female, 28% were male, 1 person of special need. Total of 33% youths (<30 yrs old) and 67% adults (>30 yrs old).Thank you to Elders of Mururung SDA Church for organizing this and GASL's Logistics Coordinator, Alwin Biari and Siona Simon for supporting.
